Karen Meyers is no longer anchoring at ABC6 as of today, and and her bio has been removed from the station's website.

Meyers came to Providence from New England Cable News in May of 2011 after Citidel Communications took over WLNE and let then anchor Allison Alexander go.

In a 2011 statement WLNE’s newly appointed president and general manager Chris Tzianabos said “Karen’s journalistic experience, anchoring/reporting skill and her knowledge of New England make her an outstanding choice for this critical position in our news department.”

Sources tell New England One that Karen decided not to renew her contract with WLNE, and when she told the station they immediately took her off-the-air. While Tzianabos did confirm the news, he did not comment on why she was no longer at the station.

WLNE has been the perennial third place newscast, lagging far behind WJAR and WPRI for decades.

We wish Meyers good luck in her future endeavors.
