Laura Hutchinson is joining WTNH-TV ABC 8 in New Haven, CT as the morning anchor of Good Morning Connecticut alongside Keith Kountz.

“We are thrilled to welcome Laura Hutchinson to the Good Morning Connecticut team,” said Mark Higgins, general manager and vice president of WTNH. “Her experience as a morning news anchor and her local Connecticut roots will bring a dynamic and valuable perspective.”

Laura joins WTNH from Media General sister-station WWLP-TV NBC 22 in Springfield, MA where she is currently the morning news anchor. She also works as one of the station’s investigative reporters on the 22 News I-Team, and moderates the station’s public affairs program "22 News inFocus."

During her six years in Springfield, Laura has covered stories like the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing, the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in 2012 and the June 1, 2011 tornado in western Massachusetts. She also traveled with the military to deliver supplies after the 2010 earthquake in Haiti. She's also flown with the Blue Angels in a F-18 Hornet, which can fly at almost twice the speed of sound, when they were at Westover Air Reserve Base in Chicopee for the Great New England Air Show.

Laura has also covered politics, and has moderated many political debates in Western Massachusetts, and covered the presidential primary in New Hampshire in 2012.

Prior to WWLP, Laura spent almost two years at WENY-TV ABC/CBS/CW 36 in Elmira, NY where she was a reporter. She's also worked behind the scenes at WPSG-TV in Philadelphia, PA; and interned at KYW-TV.

A native of Hamden, CT, Laura is a 2008 graduate of Temple University where she earned a Bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism, telecommunications, mass media and political science.

Laura won't have to move far, she already lives in Connecticut with her husband.

Her last day at WWLP is November 25.
