On October 7th 1996, the nation was introduced to ‘Fair and Balanced’ journalism. But the beginning of FOX News was not all that glamorous.
“A basement full of mice and water, which became our newsroom. Now it has desks, and monitors, and computers, and microphones and cameras” said Fox News Channel Founder and CEO Roger Ailes.
Since it launched, FNC has seen viewership growth of more than +4,600%.
Its 18th birthday comes one year after it shook up its primetime lineup for the first time in 10 years, which includes “On the Record with Greta Van Susteren” (7pm), “The O’Reilly Factor” (8pm), “The Kelly File” (9pm) and “Hannity” (10pm). According to Nielsen Media Research, during primetime for the past year, FNC ranked in the top 5 highest-rated networks in all of cable 96% of the time.
Last weekm Fox News Channel announced that the network finished first among all cable channels in primetime viewership for Q3 2014.
