David Charns has been promoted to weekend anchor at Hearst station WMTW-TV ABC 8 in Portland, ME. He had been filling in for the past few weeks, and the position is now officially his. He will also continue reporting for the evening newscasts during the week.
David joined WMTW back in June as a reporter from Hearst sister station WPTZ-TV NBC 5 in Burlingon, VT where he was a reporter.
Before joining WPTZ, David was a writer at WHDH-TV in Boston. He has also interned at WCVB, WBZ and at Prospect Pictures in London, UK.
David was born and raised in Massachusetts and graduated from Boston University where he studied journalism and American studies. He then received a Master's degree Journalism; Urban Affairs and Videography/Broadcast from Northwestern University.
David's promotion is effective immediatly.
