Kainani Stevens is joining WLNE-TV ABC 6 in Providence as a reporter, New England One has learned.
The move comes after Dana Griffin and Nicole Brazier both announced they were leaving the station.
Kainani joins ABC 6 from WGGB-TV ABC 40 in Springfield, MA where she was most recently a weekend sports anchor and reporter.
Before joining WGGB, Kainani was a production assistant for the New England Sports Network (NESN).
She has also spent time as a sideline reporter at college station GoNU.TV; and as an announcer and sideline reporter at WRBB student radio. She spent several seasons in the Boston Red Sox clubhouse and radio broadcast booth as an intern for WEEI-AM radio, which she says has been her most memorable work experience. She's also interned at NESN and 890 ESPN Radio.
Kainani has had a chance to cover some big sports events including the 2010 NBA Finals, the Beanpot, 2013 World Series, Stanley Cup Playoffs, the Patriot’s Super Bowl Parade and March Madness.
A native of Maine, Kainani is a 2011 graduate of Northeastern University where she double majored in journalism and communication studies.
