Julie Leonardi is joining WFSB-TV CBS 3 in Hartford, CT as a freelance reporter, New England One has learned.

"Julie is a solid reporter" WFSB news director Dana Neves told New England One. "She's tenacious and has a great natural curiosity. She's from Connecticut, and we are happy to have her home."

Julie joins WFSB from Meredith Corp sister-station WGGB-TV ABC 40/FOX 6 and WSHM-LD CBS 3 in Springfield, MA where she was a general assignment reporter.

"After 2 years at CBS 3 Springfield & Western Mass News I'm saying goodbye" Julie said on her Facebook page Tuesday. "Today is my last day in Western Mass and I'll miss so many great people that I've met along the way."

Before joining WGGB/WSHM in 2013, Julie spent over a year as an anchor and reporter at KMOT-TV NBC/FOX 10 in Minot, ND. She started her professional career as a production assistant at ESPN in Bristol, CT, where she worked on the shows SportsCenter and Baseball Tonight.

A native of Cape Cod in Massachusetts, Julie was raised in Sarasota, FL. She is a 2011 graduate of the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communication at Syracuse University where she earned a Bachelor's degree in broadcast and digital journalism.

During college, Julie worked for Connect Syracuse and was an anchor at SU's student run television station Cirtus TV. In 2010, Julie spent a summer interning at WFSB. She also spent time as an intern at WWSB-TV and SNN News in Sarasota, FL; and WSYR-TV in Syracuse, NY.

Julie starts at WFSB in December.
