Jacquie Slater is returning to WTNH-TV ABC 8 in New Haven as a reporter, New England One has learned.

Jacquie joins WTNH from KTVA-TV CBS 11 in Anchorage, AK where she spent the last 8 months as a general assignment reporter and fill-in anchor. Prior to that, she was a freelance reporter for News 12 Connecticut in Norwalk.

Jacquie tells New England One that working in Alaska for the past eight months has been a "great experience, " but she is glad to be home. "My desire was always to work here in Connecticut, as I was born and raised in New Haven and Hamden."

Jacquie has also spent time freelancing at WPRI-TV in Providence, and previously spent almost a year as a freelance reporter at WTNH. In addition, she has been a reporter at WCTV-TV in Tallahassee, FL.

Behind the scenes, Jacquie spent a year at WVIT-TV NBC Connecticut as an assignment editor and special projects producer. She had also been an intern at NBC Connecticut before that.

A native of Hamden and New Haven, Jacquie attended Florida International University where she studied communications. She also attended the Connecticut School of Broadcasting where she studied journalism.

Jacquie's first day at WTNH is September 21.
