Amanda Grace anchors the 4pm news on KING-TV and the 9pm news on KONG-TV in Seattle, WA, where she has been since October 2014.

Amanda came to KING/KONG from WHDH-TV in Boston which she joined in October 2008 as a general assignment reporter, coming to the station from XETV channel 6 in San Diego. She was named anchor of the 4pm, 4:30pm & 5:30pm newscasts in November 2011, and also reported for the 10pm & 11pm broadcasts. Prior to that, she worked at WSET in Roanoke/Lynchburg, Virginia, as an anchor, reporter and producer. She's also spent time as a general assignment reporter at KSNT in Topeka, Kansas, and in the Chicago bureaus of NBC Nightly News and Fox News Channel.

A native of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, Amanda is a graduate of Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism.

1. What kind of phone do you have, and what are your favorite apps?
 I have an iPhone, but I’m not super tech-savvy so my apps are pretty basic. The apps I like are Foodily (when I’m inspired to cook), Open Table (when I’m NOT inspired to cook), Map My Run (to make up for all that eating!), and Redfin (because I like to stalk real estate).

2. Favorite and least favorite news topics to cover (besides violent crime)?
 I love the adrenaline of breaking news. Give me good live pictures and it’s a good day at work! I also love any story with heart – whether it makes me smile or cry.

 I’m not a huge fan of stories about child abuse, or child molestation. I know they’re important, but as a mom, they break my heart and creep me out.

3. If you weren't working in TV news, what would you be doing?
 I would be flipping houses. I love fixing up old homes with great bones. We’re in the middle of our new project here in Seattle, and nothing is more exciting than seeing walls get ripped down and old carpet coming out.

4. What was your favorite cartoon growing up?
 I loved the classics: The Flinstones, the Jetsons, Yogi Bear. I know they’re not cartoons, but the Muppets and Fraggle Rock were also must-see-TV!

5. When you have 30 minutes of free-time, how do you pass the time?
 With a 2 year old, it’s hard to carve out 30 seconds!  But when I do, I love to get into a good book, or watch trashy reality TV (The Bachelor & Real Housewives are favorite guilty pleasures!)

6. If you could travel anywhere, where would you go and why?
 I have been dreaming of doing a safari in Zanzibar - camping out in the bush with a private tour guide and seeing all those majestic animals in their true natural habitat. It’s definitely on the bucket list. This spring, we did the Greek Islands, which was definitely on that must-see list. Santorini was one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been to.

7. Given the choice of anyone in the world, whom would you want as a dinner guest?
 I’d probably send invites to Oprah and Tina Fey, and see who shows up!

8. Do you collect anything?
 I have amassed a little collection of vintage furniture. I spend way too much time trolling 1st Dibs, eBay and Craigslist. My “treasures” usually involve a lot of restoring (thanks hubby!) but I love having pieces in my home that have real history and character.

9. What are the top 3 played songs on your iPod?
 Right now, it’s a lot of Sam Smith, Ed Sheeran, and Beyonce is always on high rotation!

10. What is one of your favorite quotes?
 This is an oldie that I still love:

11. What was the last experience that made you a stronger person?
 Last summer, my father was diagnosed with lymphoma. It kind of rocked everything that was right in my world, and I had a really hard time watching him go through chemo and radiation. It forced me to be the strong one, when he’s always been the one who’s been strong for me. Thankfully, he’s in remission now, but it was a real wake-up call about how precious every minute with your loved ones truly is.
