Roger Susanin is joining Hartford's WFSB-TV CBS 3 as a reporter, New England One has learned.

Roger joins WFSB from WZTV-TV FOX 17 in Nashville, TN where he has been a reporter since 2013.

WFSB news director Dana Neves tells New England One that Roger brings "such a unique and strong set of skills to our already strong team."

She says that Roger is "going to be great. I look forward to April!"

Roger was the subject of a recent viral video clip when he interviewed Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Samantha Hoopes on live TV and got a kiss. Hoopes was in Nashville for Swimwille 2015.

Before that, he was a reporter at KATV-TV ABC 7 in Little Rock, AR. While in Little Rock, Roger covered news throughout the state and traveled to Oklahoma City, Florida, and even Haiti to chronicle major stories. Roger has won AP and SPJ awards and he has appeared on ABC World News with Diane Sawyer and Good Morning America.

While at KATV, Roger also met his future financée and reason for moving to Connecticut. WTNH-TV ABC 8 reporter Stephanie Simoni and Roger started dating in 2009 while they were both reporters at KATV. Stephanie wasn't sure about dating a coworker at first, and dated secretly. When they both moved on to different jobs, they let their KATV coworkers know. Stephanie, a native of Norwood, MA, left KATV for WTNH in June 2012, and the two have been in a long distance relationship since.

In July 2014, Roger proposed to Stephanie at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville (video). The couple will be married in May 2015 in Newport, RI.

Before joining KATV, Roger was a reporter and fill-in anchor for a cable news station in Northeast Pennsylvania. He has also interned at NBC in London.

A native of the Philadelphia, PA area, Roger is a 2006 graduate of Syracuse University's Newhouse School of Public Communications where he studied broadcast journalism. While at Syracuse, he was a Chancellors Scholar and winner of the Maxwell Scholarship.

Roger joins the WFSB team in April.
