Jeff Stoecker is leaving NBCUniversal's WVIT-TV NBC 30 in Hartford after 6 years.

"Weekend anchor and Troubleshooter reporter, Jeff Stoecker is leaving NBC Connecticut" NBC CT spokesperson Laura Gremelsbacker told New England One.

"We wish Jeff well as he pursues new opportunities. His last day will be Wednesday, February 25th" Gremelsbacker said.

His departure was announced in an email to staff at NBC CT on Sunday.

Jeff told TVSpy that this move is not a surprise and that he "had conversations with management as far back as last summer where I told them I wasn’t interested in staying in my current position."

Prior to joining NBC CT in 2009, Jeff was a reporter at WTEN-TV ABC 10 in Albany, NY. While in Albany, Jeff's biggest stories included Eliot Spitzer prostitution scandal and the corruption scandal that led to State Comptroller Alan Hevesi stepping down from office.

He has also spent time as a reporter at KGWN-TV CBS 5 in Cheyenne, WY and as a producer at WUTR-TV ABC 20 in Utica, NY.

A native of Cazenovia, NY, Jeff is a 1995 graduate of Le Moyne College in Syracuse, NY where he studied English and communications.

Jeff has not said what his plans are or where he is going yet, but tells New England One that he is headed to Puerto Rico for a vacation "get the hell out of the cold!"

"After that" he says, "we shall see."
