If WCVB NewsCenter 5 was running for office, it would have been a landslide victory on election night.

WCVB's non-stop coverage, led by anchors Ed Harding and Heather Unruh, started at 8pm and went all night, and that paid off.

WBZ also offered all night coverage, starting at 8pm on WSBK-TV MyTV 38, and continuing on WBZ 4 at 10pm.

WFXT FOX 25, and WHDH 7 did not offer continuous coverage until 10pm.

More viewers - and voters - turned to WCVB for election coverage during every stage of reporting and results.

From 8pm to 10pm, WCVB's election coverage reigned over first run primetime programming on all other networks.

The huge advantages continued from 10pm-11pm when all competition went head-to-head in election coverage.

In the key A25-54 demo, WCVB overachieved the ratings of all competition (WBZ, WHDH, WFXT, WSBK & NECN) combined, and surpassed WHDH, WCVB's closest competitor, by 156%.

During the critical 12am-12:15am quarter hour when the 4 networks called the race for Governor, WCVB led with double and triple digit advantages over the other stations.

WBZ & WHDH battled it out for second place, and both achieved it at some point in one demo or another.

UPDATED (added 11pm numbers)

NewsCenter 5 at 11 (full hour) was also the number one late night news in all demo's and in total viewers.

WBZ and WHDH tied for second, WBZ in total viewers and WHDH in the A25-54 demo.
