After 43 years in journalism, 17 of them at New England Cable News, reporter Greg Wayland is moving on to the next chapter of his life, retirement.

"A master storyteller, there are few people who know the Boston news landscape better than Greg Wayland" said NECN anchor Mike Nikitas on Tuesday, Greg's last day at the station.

Greg's retirement also comes as a birthday present of sorts, he celebrates his birthday on November 27.

He began his journalism career in print as an editorial assistant at the Boston Globe. His move to television news brought him to Florida, where he worked at WINK-TV in Fort Myers, and WTSP-TV in Tampa.

In 1984, Greg returned to New England and joined WPRI-TV in Providence as an anchor and reporter.

Four years later, he moved back to Boston and worked as an anchor and reporter at WHDH-TV (when it was WNEV) and WBZ-TV, before starting his 17 year journey at NECN.
