The Emmy award-nominated Sunday morning show "Capitol Report" has been canceled.

It was apparently a decision made by Tribune Media, and not the station itself. Tribune Broadcasting spokesperson Jessica Bellucci said Sunday the company had no comment as to why the show was cancelled.

"I had no idea, I had no inkling," said host Tom Dudchik to the Hartford Courant, explaining how FOX CT news director Coleen Marren delivered the news following the taping of the weekly show on Friday. "We all did the show for free, it had good ratings," he said about the program he and his panel of political commentators, Jodi Latina, Shawn Wooden, Tanya Meck and Chris Healy, would serve up each week. "I was surprised." he said. "I guess the station is going in a different direction."

The show, which premiered three years ago, aired its last program on Sunday.

"I am tremendously happy that FOX CT gave me the opportunity to do the show for three years," said the political veteran and publisher of www.CTCapitolReport.com. "We may have not done it right all the time, but we got it right a lot," he said. "We had a show that appealed to politicians and the average person who had a causal interest in politics," he continued about the program that featured political guests and topics. "We tried to make it fun."

Dudchik said that he is already working on bringing the show to another station, be it radio or television.

"I would have liked to say goodbye and thank you to those who watched us each week," he said, alluding to the abrupt end of the show's run. "So I'd like to say it now, thank you everyone."
