Seattle-area based social media software company Tagboard Inc. announced on Tuesday they will acquire Capture Media, Inc. for an undisclosed amount.
Founded in 2012 and based in New York City, Capture created a product for news and media publishers to search, request, and publish users’ social media photos/videos on their websites, TV stations, and other properties.
In addition to their publishing product, Capture has built a live video publishing platform, allowing news agencies to tap into the power of user generated live video. This acquisition strengthens Tagboard’s already robust product offerings and bolsters their position as a leader in the social discovery and display market.
“This opportunity presented itself at the perfect time. We had already begun the process of launching a New York office, and that is when we started talking to Capture about potential partnership opportunities,” said Josh Decker, Tagboard’s Founder and CEO. “As soon as we began discussions, it became apparent that our companies were very similar in culture, values and goals. Our talks almost immediately shifted toward acquisition. We truly believe our value together is greater than the sum of our parts.”
Capture has raised over $6 million to date and boasts clients such as CNN, The Weather Channel and The Huffington Post. CEO Jordan Osher, and the majority of the Capture team, will stay on with Tagboard.
“We couldn’t be more excited to join the Tagboard team, a team that thinks about long term growth and what is best for the industry and customers, just like us,” Osher said. “Tagboard supports our vision and aligns with our goals of being the best platform for enterprise social. It’s a dream come true for us to be able to join the company we view as an industry leader.”
The specific terms of the acquisition are undisclosed.
