John Drain, who joined Hearst Television in September 2010 as senior vice president, finance, has been promoted to chief financial officer.

Before joining Hearst in 2010, Drain was the divisional CFO of Comcast Spotlight (the sales arm of Comcast), and held earlier finance and CFO roles with Hughes Broadcasting Partners, New World Television and Sporting News Radio Network.
Drain is involved in various industry initiatives and recently served on the board of the Media Financial Management Association, the not-for-profit professional association dedicated to the interests and needs of business and finance executives in the media industry.
A native of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Drain began his career at Coopers & Lybrand and is a Certified Public Accountant. In addition to his bachelor’s degree from Nazareth College, he holds an MBA from Pace University. Drain is also a graduate of the Center for Creative Leadership executive leadership program. He is a member of the Nazareth College Board of Trustees and in 2012 received the School of Management’s Distinguished Alumni Award.
