Meteorologist Michael Page is joining New England Cable News as a freelance meteorologist, New England One has learned.

"Well, Vermont, this is it!" Michael announced on his Facebook page. "I'm heading home to Boston. And very soon you'll be able to catch my forecasts all across New England on NECN!" he added.

NECN brand and marketing director Susan Pascal tells New England One that Michael will be working "on a freelance basis primarily to help full the shifts left open by Joe Joyce's recent departure."

Michael comes to NECN from WFFF-TV FOX 44/WVNY-TV ABC 22 in Burlington, VT where he has been the weekend meteorologist and environmental reporter since joining the stations in 2013.

Michael told New England One that "being from the Boston area, and having worked in Vermont, NECN should be a terrific fit to keep doing what I love most - tracking New England weather!"

Michael also currently owns and operates www.HinghamWeather.com, a local Boston area weather website, that he started in high school. Before he got into television, he also ran the "Boston TV News" blog that was hosted on the hinghamweather.com website.

Previously, Michael was an on-air meteorologist and environmental reporter while in college for WPSU-TV, Penn State's television station. He has also worked at WCVB-TV as a weather producer and intern.

A native of Hingham, MA, Michael is a 2012 graduate of The Pennsylvania State University in State College where he studied meteorology, weather forecasting and communications. This month, Michael also achieved his Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) Seal from the American Meteorological Society.

Michael is a member of the American Meteorological Society, and the National Weather Association.

Pascal tells us that Michael is "joining us later this week."
