Tribune Broadcasting today announced the appointment of Jon Hitchcock as Vice President & General Manager of WTIC-TV and WCCT-TV, Tribune’s FOX and CW affiliates in Hartford and New Haven, CT.  Hitchcock will oversee all aspects of the stations, including strategic planning and day-to-day operations.  He will join Tribune on April 6 and report to Lynda King, Chief Operating Officer of Broadcast Media.

Hitchcock takes over for Chris Geiger who left WTIC/WCCT abruptly this past December. Station director of sales Mark Oxton has been acting general manager since Geiger left.

A Connecticut native, Hitchcock, spent 17 years at WTNH (ABC) & WCTX (MyNet) in Hartford/New Haven, CT. Most recently, Hitchcock served as the President and General Manager of KYW-TV (CBS) and WPSG-TV (CW), the CBS owned and operated stations in Philadelphia, PA, a position he held since 2009.

"I'm thrilled to join Tribune Media and have the opportunity to return to my home state of Connecticut,” said Hitchcock.  “FoxCT, WCCT and their digital assets have an outstanding position in the marketplace. I'm eager to help build upon their value with a great team of professionals.”

“Jon is the perfect fit for these stations, as well as the Hartford and New Haven communities,” said King.  “We look forward to his leadership and commitment to our employees, partners and viewers.”

Hitchcock has a long track record of community and industry commitment, including leadership positions with the New Haven Chamber of Commerce, the Regional Leadership Council, the Ronald McDonald House, and the Connecticut Broadcasting Association.  An alumnus of Springfield College in Springfield, MA, Hitchcock and his family are looking forward to returning home to Connecticut.
