Reid Lamberty has been promoted to weekend evening anchor for Boston's WCVB-TV ABC 5, announced WCVB President and General Manager today.

A highly-regarded New England journalist for many years, and an integral member of the NewsCenter 5 team for over a year, Lamberty will co-anchor Saturday evening newscasts with Pam Cross (6-6:30PM & 11PM) and Sunday evenings with Heather Unruh (5-6PM, 6-6:30PM, & 11PM).

Award-winning sports reporter Bob Halloran, who also served as co-anchor with Pam Cross on Saturday evenings, will now turn his full attention to sports after anchoring both news and sports for many years.

Ed Harding will shift back to a Monday through Friday schedule, and now have Sunday's off again.

"I am thrilled and honored to have this opportunity at WCVB and am looking forward to continuing my career at a station that has such deep, committed and successful roots in the community," Reid said.

"Reid is an exceptional anchor and reporter who brings great experience and a depth of knowledge gleaned from many years of covering news in New England. He's been a strong asset to our NewsCenter 5 reporting team over this past year and will be a great addition to WCVB's weekend anchor team," said Fine when making the announcement.

"This is a very exciting and dynamic time at WCVB having just expanded our weekend evening newscasts and looking forward to the January 11 launch of the weekday 4:30PM and 7PM newscasts,"said Andrew Vrees, WCVB News Director. "We have an exceptional team, both in front of and behind the cameras, and are very fortunate to be able to make strategic staffing changes, such as promoting Reid to weekend evening anchor, that will further bolster our newscasts and help maintain our leadership position in this competitive market."

Reid joined WCVB in October 2014 as a freelance reporter from Channel 5's sister station, WMUR-TV in Manchester, NH, where he was a reporter. Before that, he worked for two years at WHDH-TV in Boston where he was a reporter and weekday evening co-anchor.

Earlier in his career, Reid worked as an anchor/reporter at WSVN-TV in Miami, WNYW and WCBS in New York, WFXT in Boston and WKEF-TV in Dayton, OH. He began his career in journalism at WZBN-TV in Trenton, NJ.

A native of New Jersey, Reid graduated from Bowling Green University with a degree in journalism. He currently resides in the Boston area with his wife and children.

Reid starts in his new position on January 10.
